History

Our name comes from Walter Showell’s ‘Crosswells Brewery’, which in turn, took its name from the ‘Well of the Holy Cross’, much visited in medieval times for its healing properties. Close to the Inn is Langley ‘Clocktower’, actually a sundial, erected in 1997 at the end of Langley’s redevelopment. Its panels, designed by pupils of Langley Primary School, depict the past, present and future of Langley.
